RC-Gadget Utility

  • This utility is for device version 1.50 or above, for older version, please refer to the RC-Gadget Wizard which come with the disc.
  • This utility is used to assign a radio channel to a corresponding joystick control and save these settings into the USB interface box.
  • This procedure assumes no USB, HID (Human Interface Device) or Joystick devices have been installed on your PC.
  • For your Joystick calibration, please refer to your flight simulator software since this may vary from product to another.

Setup Procedure

  1. Turn off the mixer and any special feature you may have on your radio.
  2. Make sure your radio is set to PPM or it will not function correctly.
  3. Connect your RC transmitter to the USB interface box and turn on radio. Some radios such as the JR turns on automatically when you connect the adapter.
  4. Connect the interface box to the USB port on your computer. Your PC will automatically recognize a new device and install it as an "8 axis 8 button joystick" or as "RC-Gadget Joystick"; the LED on the box will now start to flash.
  5. Run the RC-Gadget Utility program. The utility will automatically detect how many channels your radio has and display them in the utility window.

    1. Click "Start Wizard" and follow the instructions displayed on the right side of the utility window.
    2. Move all sticks, knobs & switches a few times then click "Next".
    3. Center all radio controls and click "Next".

The following steps will assign a joystick control function to your transmitter controls. Please move the corresponding control as indicated by the Utility. If any channels are inverted, the utility will automatically detect this for you as well as assign the control you a moving to the corresponding radio channel.

    1. Move the Aileron stick to the LEFT and return to the center, click "Next".
    2. Move the Elevator FORWARD and return to center, click "Next".
    3. Move Throttle to FULL and return to center, click "Next".
    4. Move Rudder to the LEFT and return to center, click "Next".

Your basic channel lineup is now complete. Click “Save & Exit” to save these settings to the USB interface box and exit the Utility.

You are now ready to fly. Run your flight simulator program and calibrate the joystick as indicated by the program and start to fly.

NOTE:

You will not have to run this Utility again; these settings will now remain in the interface box every time you use it with the same radio. If you wish to use another radio with this same box you will have to run the Utility to assign the new radio channels to the joystick controls and save it to the interface box. Just follow the instructions outlined above.

FOR ADVANCED USERS:

After you have finished the Basic setup, you are automatically in the Advanced mode. From this menu you can tailor the controls to your flying habits on the field.

When you are finished customizing your controls, just click "Save & Exit" and the new settings will be saved to the interface box.
If for some reason you made a mistake with your settings, just run the Utility from the beginning and follow the instructions above.
